OIA – 3. anniversary (22.12.)

The annual meeting of OIA was held on Wednesday, 22.12.2004. in the MUSIC CLUB SLOGA. The last year results were presented… the numbers speak for themselves…

In 2004 OIA did:

In the POLICY SECTOR:

• Influenced realization of over 20 institutional changes in the field of youth policy at all levels of governance in BiH,
• Lobbied certain recommendations from youth policy through a number of meetings of a local and an international character, through more than 300 meetings with around 70 governmental institutions, around 50 international organizations and through a number of advisory positions in the institutions of governance,
• made and presented to the public following analysis: about the participation of youth in the election process and in the governance, about an institutional framework for youth in BiH, about the condition of peer education in the field of youth in BiH, about the youth information in BiH, about the relation of the government toward youth in the last 3 years, about Dom mladih Skenderija etc,
• sent over 15.000 letters, faxes, requests for information, postcards, flyers and other promo materials to the competent institutions, for the purpose of lobbying specific segments of youth policy.

through INFO SERVICE:

• created the Info desks for youth (IDeMo!) project which was accepted in the state program of public investments BiH 2004-2006, and which OIA will create in the first phase in 6 towns of BiH (signed accords with Zenica and Bihać municipalities),
• sent regularly weekly electronic news about youth (altogether over 1.200 information, 48 issues of news) to over 6.000 e-mail addresses in BiH and South-Eastern Europe region
• designed the first phase of the web portal for youth – www.mladi.info,
• produced 30 radio shows on BH radio 1 and student eFM radio
• collected through press-clipping over 3.000 articles about youth from daily newspapers,
• participated in over 120 relevant gatherings and conferences in the world, especially in South-Eastern Europe, and through 500 appearances in over 800 media houses talking about the position and the youth activism in BiH.

in the CAPACITY EMPOWERMENT SECTOR (almost 5.000 direct users from about 50 towns) :

• educated through training programs (through more than 105 workshops) over 2.250 youth from around 50 towns about youth activism, lobbying and youth policy,
• educated 145 youth through licensed courses (ŠOP and MRZIM) that lasted a few months, with altogether 320 hours of lecturing and 27 workshops, 868 practical activities of participants, implementation of 44 mini projects of participants and their two-month practice ( 21 volunteer position in NGOs, 17 volunteer positions in the institutions of local authorities, 34 positions for peer educators and 8 positions in the OIA info team),
• educated 34 peer educators who implemented 104 workshops “Active youth” in over 70 high schools in BiH with 2.227 participants,
• financed 60 mini projects of youth in BiH with a total sum of over 80.000 KM, and participated in the capacity of experts in the selection of youth projects for a number of domestic and regional programs for grant offers,
• became an action partner of the International youth parliament 2004-2006 and a part of the global campaign for youth employment.
