Lobbying of OIA for 8 demands of the youth (August/September)

10th Day of the Protest
On the first day of protest a written demand for a meeting with Prime Minister Terzić has been sent, and today information on 8 Demands has been officially sent to the addresses of 57 representatives and delegates of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

11th Day of the Protest
After completion of the BUS trip action continuation of lobbying for fulfilment of 8 Demands of the young from the BH government followed. On Wednesday, 24 August, eleven days after the protest a meeting was held between the representatives of OIA and Prime Minister Terzić on 8 Demands of the youth. On this occasion the Prime Minister was presented with a short version of the materials on youth situation with the promises from the previous years on over 480 pages.

The young people of BH can be satisfied just in part with the meetings because at least the Demands were listened to. But, they should be disappointed by the slowness, bad realization and alibi search in the non-authorisation when it comes to certain demands, even though these parties are present in the legislative and executive authorities, on the state and entity level.

13th Day of the Protest

On 26 August, OIA sent an official demand for a meeting regarding the 8 Demands, based on the conclusions of the meeting with Terzić, to the following institutions:  Prime Minister of the Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prime Minister of Republic of Srpska, Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina and director of EPPU.

23rd Day of the Protest
On 2 September, 2005 representatives of OIA had an encounter with the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mirsad Kebo and his Assistants to discuss the creation of strategy of inclusion of BH youth diaspora into development of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was one of the 8 Demands. This is one of the demands of youth from BH government which could attract a lot of members of BH youth diaspora and enhance greatly development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the encounter it was concluded that the Assistants of Minister from the Refugee Sector in cooperation with OIA will develop a strategy which would involve BH diaspora in the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

29th Day of the Protest
On 8 September a meeting was held between the representatives of OIA and the Unit for Economic Policy Planning and Implementation of BiH Medium Term Development Strategy (EPPU) to which we were referred by Prime Minister Terzić regarding the Demand on creation of measures for youth employment.
EPPU took over the responsibility to make a study on the possibilities of youth employment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with OIA, in accordance with the pattern of other countries and models that can be applied to our society.  The elements of this document should be included into the Medium Term Development Strategy which would make the Demand on youth employment legally founded and facilitate its realization.

36th Day of the Protest
On 15 September, 2005 Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee of State Parliament organized a Public hearing on higher education on cooperation with a group of non-governmental organizations. The official presentation on the necessity of adoption of a Law on higher education and the basic elements of Bologna Process was held by Jan Zlatan Kulenović, Executive Director of OIA. During the discussion it was suggested that certain delegates should be more engaged in lobbying of certain universities and students who would support this law, especially since some parties refer to vital national interests, even though the interest of ALL students is the fastest reform and European integration.
